Obituary

WORCESTER-James R. Buell, of Worcester, died unexpectedly Wednesday, September 12th in his home. He leaves a son, Nathan J. Buell of Worcester; a daughter, Tracy M. and her husband David Russell of Gulf Breeze, FL; 4 grandchildren, Jordan Buell of Oxford and Logan, Devin and Daisy Russell all of Florida; a brother, John T. and his wife Elizabeth Buell; 2 sisters, Janice L. wife of Arthur Orsi and Joanne M. Gray, all of Worcester; several nephews and nieces; his beloved dog, Chevy; and several friends.

James was born in Worcester on November 18, 1951, the son of Oland A. and Mary E. (Kleiza) Buell. He was a 1968 graduate of South High School where he was captain of the baseball, football and basketball teams. James was a 1973 graduate of WPI where, in his senior year, he was tri-captain of the football team and a co-captain of the baseball team. He was rated as one of the 10 best receivers in New England. James was inducted into the WPI Athletic Hall of Fame and the Worcester Galaxy of Stars. James was employed by Wyman-Gordon for 25 years as a civil engineer until his retirement in 1997. He was an avid New England sports fan and enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and walking his dog, Chevy. James will be loved and missed dearly by everyone. As he would say, "Life is full of hills and valleys."

The funeral is Sunday, September 16th with a service at 7:00 PM in O'CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue. Burial will be private. Calling hours will be held from 5:00 until the time of the service in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 330 Congress Street, 5th Floor, Boston, MA 02210.
