Christine G. Freni
...formerly of Tewksbury; 91
Hudson, N.H. - Christine G. (Leccese) Freni, age 91, a former Tewksbury resident, died Thursday, September 13th, at the Arbors in Bedford N.H., after a lengthy illness. She was the wife of Joseph L. Freni Sr., who died in 1984.
She was born in Somerville, MA, on December 24, 1915, one of eight children of the late Juiseppe and Egilda (Petrillo) Leccese. She was raised in Somerville and graduated Somerville High School. Upon marriage, she lived in Medford for a decade before moving to Tewksbury, where she resided for 41 years. She had lived with her son and his family in Hudson, NH, for the last decade.
She worked as a secretary for several high-tech companies along the Route 128 corridor in Massachusetts before earning the position of Executive Secretary for the Raytheon Company, where she worked for 16 years. She retired at the age of 74.
She was an accomplished musician on mandolin, violin, and organ. She also enjoyed reading, and the companionship of her feline friends throughout her life. She was described by her sons as having devoted her life to raising and feeding her family. She was warmly recalled as making sure everyone was full before they left the diner table.
She is survived by her three sons and their spouses, Joseph and Rannveig (Gudmuddottir) Freni Jr. of Hudson, NH, Pasquale "Pat" and Judith (Kuhn) Freni of Manhatten, NY, Richard and Rachel (Pomerleau) Freni of Billerica; one sister, Anna (Leccese) Cremmins of Arlington, MA; four grandchildren, Charles and his wife Tammy Freni III of Hudson, Christine and her husband Michael McIntyre all of Hudson, NH, Joshua and his wife Robin Freni of CA, Edith Freni of NYC; four great grandchildren, Stephanie, Andrew, Hudson, and Colton; and several nieces and nephews.
She was also sister of the late Angelo, Thomas, Pasquale, Louis, Alfred and Cosmo Leccese.
Her Funeral Mass was celebrated Tuesday, Sept. 18, in St. William's Church, Tewksbury. Burial followed at Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden, MA. Memorials to the Alzheimer's Assoc. of MA, 311 Arsenal St., Watertown, MA 02472 will be appreciated.
