Obituary

Isabella S. (Silva) Butler, 82, of New Bedford died Saturday December 21, 2002 at St. Luke's Hospital after a long illness. She was the wife of the late Philip D. Butler, Sr.

Born in Falmouth, the daughter of the late Miguel and Eugenia (Correia) Silva, she had lived in New Bedford for most of her life.

She was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Assumption Church.

Mrs. Butler was formerly employed as a stewardess/porter with the Woods Hole-Martha's Vineyard-Nantucket Steamship Authority until her retirement.

She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star.

Survivors include a son, Philip D. Butler, Jr., of New Bedford; a stepson, Rev. Otis Granville Butler of Stafford, VA; 3 sisters, Elsie Lopes of Virginia, Irena Thimas of Carver, and Nancy Rutherford of New Bedford; and several nieces and nephews.She was the sister of the late Antonio daSilva.

Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New BedfordTuesday December 24, 2002 at 8 AM. Funeral Mass at Our Lady of the Assumption Church at 9 AM. Burial will follow in Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne at 11 AM. Visiting hours will be on Monday December 23, 2002 from 4-7 PM.
