Gladys Maguire, 82, of Derry, NH and formerly of Stoneham, MA died September 13, 2007 at Pleasant Valley Nursing Center. Born and raised in Somerville, MA, she was the daughter of the late Bert and Rachel (Pratt) Whitehouse. She was a graduate of Somerville High School. Following her marriage in 1945 to Edward J. Maguire, Sr., she lived in Stoneham, MA prior to moving to Derry five years ago. Mrs. Maguire was a devoted mother and grandmother who enjoyed making special treats of cookies and muffins for others. She was an avid supporter of Pinkerton Academy athletic teams, as well as the NH Shooting Stars girls basketball team and the NH Grizzlies baseball team.
She is survived by two daughters, Phyllis T. Anderson of Westerly, RI and Susan A. Guidi of Derry; two sons, Dennis L. Maguire of Dunstable, MA and Dr. Kevin Maguire of Mystic, CT; 11 grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and a sister, Irene Whitehouse of Westerly, RI. She was predeceased by her husband of 43 years, Edward J. Maguire, Sr. in 1988 and a son, Edward J. Maguire, Jr. in 1992.
There were no calling hours. Funeral service's were held on Saturday, September 15th at 10 AM in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry. Following cremation, urn burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett, MA.
