WORCESTER__ Barbara (Stanionis) DeCourcey, 59, of Worcester, passed
away Monday, September 10 at UMASS Memorial Medical Center - University
Campus.
She leaves behind a daughter, Stephanie DeCourcey of Los Angeles,
CA, as well as her parents, Walter "Bill" and Helen (Leszuk) Stanionis of Worcester.
Ms. DeCourcey was a dedicated school teacher with the Worcester
Public School System and entered her thirty eighth year this past
August. When the F.J. McGrath School opened in 1977, she was a member
of the first faculty and has since been a teacher there. She received
her Bachelor and Graduate Degrees from Worcester State College.
Barbara was an active member of St. George Church, as well as a member
of the Massachusetts Teacher Association.
Barbara was a devoted and loving mother, who was enthralled by her
daughters' achievements and reveled in sharing news about her
accomplishments. Her first intention for happiness was always to
those around her: her daughter, her parents, her friends, her
students. She was a kind and loyal friend who celebrated successes
and was consoling during difficult times.
