Paul H. DeYoung 72, of East Bridgewater died Monday September 10th in the Kindred Northeast Specialty Hospital, Brockton, after a brief illness. He was the husband of Charlotte (Rhodes) DeYoung.
He was born and raised in Rockland, son of the late Harold and Alice (Mahon) DeYoung. He was a graduate of Rockland High.
Living in East Bridgewater, for 38 years, he was a union truck driver for local teamster # 653 and worked at Griffin Trucking in Hanover and Lounge Inc., in Brockton.
Paul was a veteran of the United States Army during the Korean conflict; he was a member of the Abington VFW.
He was an avid sports fan and loved to attend all of his grandchildren’s sports events that they participated in.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children Sheila LaFleur of Carver, Debra Andrews of Pembroke, Marylou Andrews, John Andrews both of Carver, Scott DeYoung of Pembroke, Maureen Andrews of West Virginia, Lisa Reid of East Bridgewater, Paula Parker of Pembroke and Michelle Brown of Bridgewater, his sister of Lucy DeYoung of Marshfield; also16 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and his beloved cat Gilligan. He was also the great grandfather of the late Christian Thomas O’ Loughlin.
His services will be held Thursday September 13th at 7:00 P.M. in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Route 58 at the Rotary Circle) Whitman, MA. Burial will be at a later date in the Colebrook Cemetery, Whitman, MA. Visiting hours will be held Thursday September 13th 3-7.
