WEBSTER – Duane F. “David” Smith, 62, of 243 Killdeer Island Road, died Tuesday, September 11, in Hubbard Regional Hospital after being stricken ill. His wife, Mary A. (Vincent) Smith preceded him in death.
He leaves a daughter, Jennifer L. Vincent; 2 brothers, Robert Smith of Manchester, NH, and Daniel Smith; 5 grandchildren, Keith Vincent, Stephen Wood, Jr., Duane Wood, Alexis Wood and Kaiylibe Wood.
He was born in Malden, the son of Robert I. and Josephine (Lopes) Smith. He was a high school graduate.
Mr. Smith was on the Board of Directors of Great Brook Valley in Worcester. He was then a substitute teacher. In his later years, he was the care giver for his daughter and grandchildren.
He was a member of the Killdeer Island Club. He enjoyed cooking, shopping, antiquing and spending time with his family.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, Sept. 14, in Sitkowski & Malboeuf Funeral Home, 340 School St. Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery. A calling period will be from 9:00 to 10:00 AM Friday, Sept. 14, prior to the service. Donations in his name may be made to the American Diabetes Association, PO Box 1132, Fairfax, VA 22038.
