TEWKSBURY: Ottilie (Betz) Lawton, age 80, a resident of Tewksbury for the past two years, died Thursday, September 6, 2007 at the Lawrence General Hospital.
Born in Germany of April 30, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Elise (Dressler) (Betz) Metz.
Mrs. Lawton was raised in Germany and immigrated to the U.S. in 1956.
Prior to moving to Tewksbury in 2005, she lived for many years in Lawrence and North Reading.
Mrs. Lawton was employed for fifteen years as a department manager for the K-Mart Department Store in Billerica until her retirement in 1992.
She was a former member of the Sunshine Club at the Methuen Senior Center.
According to her family, she enjoyed shopping, knitting Afghans for her family and friends and attending socials and trips with Methuen Senior Center members.
She is survived by nine children, Jane Littlefield of Tewksbury, Heidi Madden of Wakefield, Deb Deschenes of N. Conway, NH, Ruth Chaprales and her husband Bill of Marston Mills, Thomas Madden and his wife Lori of Andover, Cynthia Weed and her husband Patrick of Worcester, Marc Madden of Andover, Monika Flucht of Germany and William Schneider of Oregon; two sisters, of Anna Siebal and Wilma Ungarth both of Germany; one brother, Gunther Metz of Germany. She also leaves numerous grandchildren, one great grandchild and many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Lawton was the mother-in-law and friend of the late Richard Littlefield.
Calling hours will be held Thursday, September 13th from 5- 8 p.m., at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury, immediately followed by a prayer service to be held at the funeral home.
