Obituary

Edmond Brignac, 81, of Decatur, Alabama, died Saturday, September 8, 2007.

Visitation, starting at 10 AM, followed by a funeral service, held at St. Johns Episcopal Church in Decatur, Alabama, on Wednesday, September 12th. Graveside service will be held at Brushy Creek Cemetery, Irwin County on Thursday, September 13 at 3:30 PM, with visitation at 2:30 at Paulk Funeral Home in Ocilla.

Mr. Brignac was born in French Settlement, Louisiana, a small bayou country town settled by his ancestors. At age 17, he joined the US Army and flew with the highly decorated 22nd Heavy Bomber group during WWII in the Pacific. Honorably discharged as a sergeant, he completed a chemical engineering degree at LSU and went on to develop many innovations and hold patents for manufacture of nylon and polyester. Upon his retirement from Monsanto, he started a consultancy, and was instrumental in relocation and start-up of surplus polyester manufacturing plants for global clients. He was elected to the Board of Directors of Ester India, a specialty chemicals company. Mr. Brignac was a devoted husband, patient and loving father who will be deeply missed.

He is survived by his wife, Annette Tyson Brignac of Decatur, AL; sons, Paul of Birmingham, AL and Stephen of St. Francisville, LA; daughter, Lisa Lynch of Atlanta; 6 grandchildren; brother, Warren of Fort Worth, TX; sister, Mary Agnes Holmer of New Canaan, CT.
