WEBSTER – Alfred J. “Freddy” Rascoe, 90, of 47 North Main Street, died Sunday, Sept. 9, in St. Vincent Hospital, Worcester. His first wife, Jeannette (Loiselle) Rascoe, died in 1968. His second wife, Sophie (Zacek) Rascoe, died in 2004.
He leaves a sister, Regina Kooistra of Uxbridge; several nephews and nieces; grand nephews and grandnieces; and his closest caregivers, Karen and Jean-Paul Betty of Webster and Angela Finne of Milbury.
He was born and raised in the Linwood section of Northbridge, the first child of Arthur and Rose (Richard) Rascoe. He moved to Webster at the time of his marriage in 1942. He was preceded in death by his siblings Grace, Rita and Raymond.
He was an Army veteran of World War II.
Mr. Rascoe was a frame spinner at Packard Mills and then a sample weaver at Stevens Linen Associates in Dudley for 17 years, retiring in 1981.
He was a member of St. Joseph Basilica. He was the president of the Webster Senior Center for 18 years; he also ran the pitch league.
The funeral will be held Thursday, Sept. 13, from Scanlon Funeral Service, 38 East Main Street, with a Mass at 10:00 AM in Saint Joseph Basilica, 53 Whitcomb St. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. The Webster-Dudley Veterans Council will provide the military honors. Calling hours are from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Wednesday, Sept. 12, in the funeral home.
