Obituary

Katherine A. (Martin) Mitchell of Newton, vice president of her husbands pharmaceutical company, F. A. Mitchell Co, died at her home on Mon. Sept 10, 2007. She was 83.
Born in New Waterford, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia she had lived in Newton since 1956. She was a member of the Scotch Church in Boston and transferred to the Newton Presbyterian Church where she had bee an active member recently receiving her 50 year recognition. She served as the president of the Ladies Aid Society for over 15 years, was a member of the hand bell choir, organized the senior citizen dinners and helped with the New 2 U thrift shop. She also served with the Newton Election Commission as a poll worker for many years.
Wife of the late Frederick A. Mitchell, she is survived by her daughter Linda and her husband Bill Mackie of Framingham and her son Lawrence F. Mitchell of Weymouth. She is also survived by her grandchildren of Scott, Katie, Kristin, Kelli and Katherine and great granddaughter Alexia.
A funeral service will be held on Thurs Sept 13 at 12 Noon in the Newton Presbyterian Church 75 Vernon St. Newton Corner. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. A visiting hour will be held at the church prior to the service from 11 -12. Interment will follow at Newton Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in Kay’s name to the Newton Presbyterian Church 75 Vernon St. Newton, MA 02458.
