Richard F. Marnell, 78, died unexpectedly at home in Brockton on Saturday, September 8. He was the son of the late Francis and Mary (Sellers) Marnell. Born in Boston, he grew up in Brookline and was a graduate of St. Mary’s School in Brookline. He was a resident of Brockton for over 30 years. Mr. Marnell was a mechanic with the MBTA for over 30 years before retiring 25 years ago. In his free time he collected model cars and enjoyed the ocean.
Mr. Marnell was the father of Francis P. Marnell of Avon, Dawn Marnell, Scott Marnell and the late John Marnell and Shayne Marnell. He was the brother of Francis Marnell of Walpole, Beverly Fortin of Brookline and the late Kay Day. He is also survived by several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Thursday, September 13 at 11 AM Visiting Hours Wednesday 5-8 PM. Burial will take place at Melrose Cemetery in Brockton.
