Obituary


Carmelita C. (Dynan) Healey, 83, of Franklin died Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2007, at the Franklin Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, following a long illness.
She was the widow of John B. Healey Jr., who died in 1971.
Born in Somerville, a daughter of the late Denis and Veronica (O'Donnell) Dynan, she lived in Franklin since 1949. She was raised and educated in Cambridge.
For more than 20 years, Mrs. Healey served at the veterans agent for Franklin. Following her retirement from the town, Mrs. Healey worked for several years as a cashier for the Stop & Shop in Franklin.
During World War II, she served in the U.S. Navy. She attained the rank of pharmacist's mate third class, and was honorably discharged in May 1946.
She was a life member and past commander of Franklin Post No. 75 American Legion. She was also a member of the ladies auxiliary Veterans of Foreign Wars. She was a member of the Franklin Senior Citizens, the American Association of Retired Persons and a communicant of St. Mary Church.
She leaves two sons, Dennis and Michael Healey of Franklin; two daughters, Kathleen Garrey of Franklin and Ann Gage of Fairfield, Maine; and five grandchildren.
The funeral will be held Monday, Sept. 10, at 8:15 a.m., from the Charles F Oteri & Son Franklin Funeral Home (franklinfuneral.com), 33 Cottage St., with a funeral Mass in St. Mary Church, 1 Church Square, at 9 a.m.
Burial with military honors will take place at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne at 1:30 p.m.
There are no calling hours.
Instead of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to the charity of one's choice.
