Obituary

GLOUCESTER: Jay P. Witham, 51, died Wednesday, September 5, 2007 in the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers following an extended illness. He was the husband of Joanne C. (Herrick) Witham.
Born in Gloucester on August 2, 1956, he was the son of the late Joseph F. Witham, Jr. and Lorraine (Hiland) Witham. He was a lifelong resident of Gloucester and a graduate of Gloucester High School class of 1974.
Jay was employed at Gorton’s of Gloucester for over thirty years. He was an avid New England Patriot’s fan and enjoyed golfing, fishing, crossword puzzles and table hockey.
In addition to his wife of eleven years, he is survived by a sister and brother-in-law, Lisa W. and Edward C. Cutler of Newbury, two brothers, David M. and his wife, Allison (Morrissey) Witham and Gary J. Witham all of Gloucester, his in-laws, Paul and Bessie Herrick of Gloucester, a sister-in-law, Elizabeth and her husband, David Hunter of Gloucester and several nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by his brother, Matthew J. Witham.
His funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday in the Holy Family Parish, St. Ann Church at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. At the family’s request, there are no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701. Interment will be held in the Dolliver Memorial Cemetery, W. Gloucester. Arrangements are under the direction of the Pike-Grondin Funeral Home, 61 Middle Street, Gloucester.
