Obituary

BRIDGEWATER---Frances Morast, lifelong resident of Bridgewater, died Monday, September 3rd, after a lengthy and courageous fight against ovarian cancer, at her home, surrounded by her loving husband, children and family members.


Born Frances Theresa Rose Filippetti, in Brockton, she was the daughter of the late Caesar and Virginia (Folloni) Filippetti. She was raised and educated in Bridgewater.

She was a graduate of Bridgewater-Raynham Regional High School, Class of 1964. She received her B.S. degree from Bridgewater State College, Class of 1968, and received her M.A. degree from Cambridge College.

Mrs. Morast was a grade 7 Reading and Englishl Language Arts teacher for the Bridgewater and Bridgewater-Raynham school districts. She retired in 2004 after 33 years of instilling knowledge and caring to the many students who passed through her classes.

She was also a former part time employee of the Bridgewater Veteran's Club. She was active in the community, including past president of the Bridgewater-Raynham Citizens Scholarship Foundation, and former advisor to the Bridgewater Badgers Youth Football Cheerleaders.

She was also the advisor for the Williams Jr. High School and the Bridgewater-Raynham Regional High School cheerleaders.

Frances was a lifelong communicant of St. Thomas Aquinas Church.

She enjoyed volunteering her time for the youth of the community, reading, sewing, travel, and her most passionate love: spending time with her beloved family. No matter where she worked or rested, her smile and kindness became her hallmarks.


Mrs. Morast is survived by her devoted husband of 38 years, Jack E. Morast, a son, John P. of Bridgewater, and four daughters, Kristen Clark of Winston-Salem, NC, Kerry Lamlein of Quincy, Karla Morastt-Psaros of Holbrook, Kimberly A. of Bridgewater, and sons-in-law, Robert Clark, Philip Psaros, David Lamlein, and daughter-in-law, Deborah Morast. She is also survived by her adored grandchildren, Matthew and Caitlyn Morast, Alyssa and Brittany Clark, and expected baby Psaros; her siblings, Mary Markey of Laurel, MD, Louis Filippetti of Stamford, CT, Rosalie Ghelfi of Mashpee, MA, Helen PretiWallace of Virginia Beach, VA, Nancy Sharland of Bridgewater, and Richard Filippetti of Shrewsbury.

In addition, left to cherish her memory, are mother-in-law, Martha Morast; sisters-in-law Patricia Filippetti, Terilyn Filippetti, Plesie Morast Hurst, Melanie Morast; brothers-in-law, Anthony Ghelfi, Henry Morast, Larry Morast, Robert Hurst; aunt, Angela Balboni; uncles, John and Michael Folloni, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her brothers-in-law, Stephen A. Markey, Jr.; Edwin C. Wallace, Jr.; and sisters-in-law, Lorraine Filippetti and Helen Morast.


A Mass of Resurrection will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, September 8th at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, Center Street, Bridgewater.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery.


The family will be receiving relatives and friends at Prophett Funeral Home, 98 Bedford Street, Bridgewater, on Friday, September 7th from 2-4 p.m. and 6-9 p.m.

Memorial donations may be sent to the Bridgewater-Raynham Citizen Scholarship Foundation, P.O. Box 380, Bridgewater, MA 02324, to fund the Frances Filippetti Morast Memorial Scholarship.
