Edward H. Morse, 89
Retired Mansfield Postmaster

Edward H. Morse, 89, of Yarmouthport formerly of Mansfield died on Thursday September 6, 2007 at home. He was the beloved husband of the late Patricia L. (DesJardin) Morse who passed away on June 24, 1998.
Born in Mansfield, MA on June 3, 1918 he was a dear son of the late Harrison and Harriet (Buck) Morse.
He grew up and was educated in Mansfield, and was a graduate of Mansfield High School and also of Boston University. He served as a Lieutenant in the United States Navy during WWII .
Mr. Morse was the former Postmaster at the Mansfield Post Office for 22 years prior to retiring in 1978. He had formerly served for several years as the Secretary to former House Speaker Joseph Martin in North Attleboro and also had previously been employed for General Motors at its former Framingham plant.
Ed had attended the First Congregational Church of Yarmouth in Yarmouthport. He enjoyed walking, playing the piano but his favorite times were those spent in the presence of his family. He had made his home in Yarmouthport for the past 28 years and was a former longtime resident of Mansfield.
He is survived by his devoted children; Patricia J. Thibault and husband David of Ellsworth, Maine, Dana H. Morse of Brockton, Cynthia L. Shields and her husband Robert of Roanoke, Virginia and Paula L. Shinkle and her husband James of Fredericksburg, Virginia. He was the brother of Frederick A. Morse of Oceanside, New York and the late Kenneth E. Morse and the late Charlotte L. Benson,also survived by his cherished 9 grandsons, 8 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Monday September 10th at 10:00 A.M. at the Spring Brook Cemetery in Mansfield. A memorial service will follow at 3:00 P.M. in the First Congregational Church of Yarmouth 329 Main St. in Yarmouthport.
Visiting hours are omitted. It has been requested that in lieu of flowers, donations in Mr. Morse’s memory be made to either the First Congregational Church of Yarmouth 329 Main St. Yarmouthport, MA 02675 or to the Northside United Methodist Church 701 Airline Road Brewster, MA 02631
