Grandfather of seven.
Funeral from the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton Saturday at 8 am. Funeral Mass in St. Patrick Church at 9 am. Burial in Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne at a later date. Visiting hours Friday 5-8 pm.
Obituary
James J. Casey of Loretto, Kentucky died Friday in the Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington, KY after a brief illness. He was the husband of the late Jane E. (Lange) Casey. For the past 8 years he had been a resident of Loretto, KY previously living in Brockton for many years. Mr. Casey was born and raised in Milford, MA a son of the late James J. and Elizabeth L. (McCarty) Casey and was a graduate of St. Mary High School in Milford. During WW II Mr. Casey served in the US Navy in the Atlantic/European Theater and was involved with troop transport. He had participated in the invasion of Normandy.
Following the war Mr. Casey settled in Brockton and served with the Brockton Police Department for 35 years. He had been a member of the police honor guard. He was a horse racing enthusiast and enjoyed the Raynham Dog Track. He had also been a fixture at St. Patrick’s Saturday night bingo. When living in Brockton he was a communicant of St. Patrick Church.
He is survived by three children Jane (Casey) Brown of Palmer, Alaska; James J. Casey of Brockton and Joseph M. Casey of Easton; two sisters Betty Morris of Holliston and Anna Casey of Loretto, KY, seven grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Jane M. (Casey) Soveral and John P. Casey and brother of the late William Casey.
