Obituary

William W. Perry, 72, of Fairhaven died unexpectedly on Monday, September 3, 2007 at Brigham and Women's Hospital of an aneurysm. He was the husband of Nancy (Moore) Perry.
Born and raised in Taunton, the son of the late Daniel and Ella (Ducharme) Perry, he lived in Fairhaven for the past 36 years.
Mr. Perry was formerly employed as Vice Principal /Special Needs Director at Bristol County Agricultural High School. He had also previously worked as a special needs teacher at Hastings Junior High School and Greater New Bedford Regional Vocational Regional Technical High School. He had also been a judge for the Massachusetts Racing Commission.
He was a graduate of Taunton High School. He received a Bachelor's degree in Textile Technology from Bradford Durfee Textile Institute, now UMass Dartmouth, a Master of Education degree from Fitchburg State College, and a Certificate in Advance Graduate Studies from Bridgewater State College.
He was a gifted natural athlete, playing basketball, football, and baseball, in high school and college. He was an avid golfer. He was a member of the King David Lodge, A.F. & A.M. in Taunton. He was a member of the Fairhaven Historical Society and was a Civil War enthusiast. He was active in local and state political campaigns.
William W. Perry was a much respected teacher and mentor, and a well-liked friend and neighbor. He had a way of making other people feel special. Bill's happiest days were those spent with his family.
He is survived by his loving wife; his beloved daughter, Meg Elizabeth Hunt and her husband Timothy J. Hunt of Fairhaven; two sisters, Audrey Brown and her husband Frank of Taunton and Joan Hoar of Jewett City, CT; his mother-in-law, Miriam Moore of Mattapoisett; two grandchildren, Brody William and Hadley Elizabeth, who gave him his greatest joy; and many nieces and nephews.
His Funeral Service will be held on Friday at 11 AM at the Saunders-Dwyer Mattapoisett Home for Funerals, 50 County Rd., Route 6, Mattapoisett. Burial will follow in Cushing Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Thursday from 4-8 PM. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Fairhaven Animal Shelter, 200 Bridge St., Fairhaven, MA 02719.
