Stephen S. Day, 87, died at his home in Marion, Massachusetts on Wednesday December 18, 2002. He was born in Newark, New Jersey on January 4, 1915, the son of Edna (Schwartz) and Clarence Mulford Day. He grew up in Jackson, Michigan, but lived for many years in Broad Brook, Connecticut and North Granby, Connecticut. He worked in the automotive parts business until the mid-1950s when he established the Stephen Day Insurance Agency. In Connecticut, he was active in the Hartford Jaycees and the Windsor Locks Rotary Club, particularly working with the Junior Achievement Program. In 1979 Mr. Day retired to Marion, Massachusetts.
Mr. Day leaves his beloved wife of 31 years, Edna Marie Hebert Day and his sister, Adrienne Maly of Winter Park, FL. He was predeceased by his first wife, Frances Morse Day. He will be lovingly remembered by his children, Susanne Erickson of Belfast, Maine, Mary Seymour of Monroe, Maine, Stephen Day of Old Chatham, New York, Karen Girondel of Lexington, Massachusetts, and Jennifer Pierce of Waldo, Maine; and by his stepchildren, Alan Hebert of Thorndike, Maine, Stephen Hebert of North Granby, Connecticut, and Elaine Hall of Torrington, Connecticut, as well as 13 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
His Memorial Service will be held on Saturday December 28, 2002 at 1:30 PM in the First Congregational Church of Marion, 28 Main St., Marion, Massachusetts. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Southcoast Hospice, 28 Sconticut Neck Rd., Fairhaven, Massachusetts 02719.
