Ruthmarie (Tallent) Brady, of Winchester formerly of Medford passed away at home on September 2, 2007. Born in Melrose, she was the daughter of the late William J. and Ruth (Buckley) Tallent. She was raised in Medford and graduated Medford High School with the class of 1948. After graduation, she attended Regis College in Weston, where she graduated in 1952 with a degree in English Literature. She furthered her education with a Master’s degree in Education from Boston University. Ruthmarie pursued her professional interest in education as a librarian in Wakefield for over twenty years before retiring in 1993. Her enthusiasm for the written and spoken word extended into her position as a lector at St. Francis Church in Medford, where she served for over ten years. She also was a member of the Fey Group, a formal poetry discussion group for poets and lovers of poetry. Education played a big part in her life. She continually attended classes at the ILR Center at Boston College, a center for retirement research. Ruthmarie is survived by her devoted husband of over 51 years, J. Thomas Brady. She was the loving mother of Thomas E. and his wife Amy of Andover, Catherine B. Mandile and her husband John of Winchester, William and his wife Sara Lynn of Carlisle, and John M. and his wife Julie of Stratham, NH. The dear sister of Helen T. Gillam of Manomet and Doris Byrne of Malden, she also leaves behind 9 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Brady’s Funeral will be held from the Costello Funeral Home 177 Washington St., Winchester on Thurs. Sept. 6th at 9AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary’s Church, Winchester at 10AM. Relatives and friends respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours are Wed. from 4-8PM.
