Mr. Raymond F. Collins, Sr., beloved husband of the late Irma (Brewer) Collins, died at the Nevins Nursing and Rehabilitation Centre in Methuen on Sunday evening, September 2, 2007. He was 90 years old.
He was born in Calais, Maine on April 29, 1917, a beloved son of the late Asa and Ethel (Wilson) Collins. Mr. Collins became an Andover Police officer in 1949. He was made Sergeant on May 5, 1957, and was made the first ever Lieutenant on the department on March 23, 1969. He retired from the Andover Police on December 31, 1981.
In his spare time, Mr. Collins enjoyed watching the Bruins and Red Sox and also working on his yard.
He is survived by his two sons; Raymond F. Collins, Jr., and his companion, Elizabeth Rubino and her daughter, Meg Rubino all of Haverhill and Harold Collins of Derry, New Hampshire, one sister; Frances Powell of Corvallis, Oregon, two grandchildren; Amy Renee and her husband Walter Delaney of Lake Villa Illinois and Jess and his wife Amy Collins of Malta, Illinois, four great-grandchildren; Alex and Emma Grace Collins and Sean and Kyle Delaney and four nieces and one nephew.
A memorial service was celebrated in the Andover Baptist Church, 7 Central Street, Andover on September 15, at 11 AM. Many relatives and friends respectfully attended. Burial was private.
