Mrs. Florence M. (Brown) Hickey of Stoneham, formerly of Medford, beloved wife of the late Albert J. Hickey, died at the Winchester Nursing Center on Saturday, September 1, 2007, following a lengthy illness. She was 85 years old.
She was born on March 22, 1922, in East Boston, Massachusetts, a beloved daughter of the late Frank W. and Grace (Larsen) Brown. Mrs. Hickey really enjoyed and loved her work as secretary to the president of Boston Federal Saving’s Bank in Boston, serving for more than 28 years. She was an avid sports fan and especially enjoyed watching the Red Sox and Patriots. She also enjoyed playing Bingo and spending time with her family at her cottage in Bradford, New Hampshire. Above all she was a very devoted family person, especially to her four grandchildren and great-granddaughter.
She will be sorely missed by her three loving children; Richard J. and his wife Elizabeth “Bette” Hickey of Stoneham, Janice M. and her husband Thomas D. Keleher of Needham and Robert J. Hickey of Medford, one brother; Frank W. and his wife Roberta L. Brown of Medford, one sister Dorothy G. Nelson of Henniker, New Hampshire, four grandchildren; Julianne M. and her husband Arthur Tzouganatos, Erin L. Keleher, Kevin J. and his wife Marissa Keleher and Brian T. Keleher and one great-granddaughter; Konstantina Tzouganatos. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Her funeral service was celebrated in the Grace Episcopal Church, 160 High Street, Medford on Wednesday, September 5, 2007, at 10 AM. Many relatives and friends respectfully attended. Visiting hours were held in the Beals-Geake-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 29 Governors Avenue, Medford, Tuesday, September 4, 2007, from 4 to 8 PM. Interment was in Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
