John Soares, 42, of Colorado Springs died suddenly on Tuesday August 28, 2007.
Born and raised in New Bedford, he was the son of Joao F. and Maria S. (Silva) Soares of New Bedford.
Mr. Soares served in the U.S. Air Force for 20 years until his retirement as a Master Sergeant in 2004. He was later employed as a consultant for Boeing.
He was an avid computer specialist and enjoyed family gatherings and cookouts.
Survivors include his parents; two children, Aaron and Mariah Soares of Nebraska; three brothers, Antone DePina and his wife Melinda, Daniel J. Soares, and Edmund J. Soares and his wife Lisa, all of New Bedford; five sisters, Maria E. Alves, Maria F. Soares, Helen Soares, and Mary F. Soares, all of New Bedford, and Christine Williams of Arizona; his grandmother, Mary G. Silva of New Bedford; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was the grandson of the late Pedro F. Silva, and Francisco and Maria Soares.
His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday at 9 AM at Our Lady of the Assumption Church. Burial with military honors will follow in the Mass. National Cemetery, Bourne.
