Mr. Stephen Banacos, 89, died Thursday, August 30, at a local healthcare facility in Lowell. .
He was born in Lowell on October 16, 1917, son of the late Harry and Stamatico (Tampas) Banacos.
A former resident of Lowell, he was educated through the Lowell Schools. He worked on the local family farm for many years. He enjoyed sports and was an avid boxer. He lived and worked most of his life in the Worcester area.
He is survived by seventeen nieces and nephews, forty-five great nieces and nephews, and twenty-four great great nieces and nephews and many cousins.
He was the brother to the late Katina Vlahos, Poppy Russo, Thespina Vissis, Stella Benson, Penelope Banacos, Demetrios Banacos, Nicholas Banacos, Anthony Banacos, John Banacos, Billy Banacos, and Andreas Bancos.
Friends will be received at the M. R. LAURIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 295 Pawtucket St. Lowell on Tuesday morning from 8:30 a.m. - 9:30 a.m. followed by his funeral service at the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church of Lowell at 10 a.m. Interment in Westlawn Cemetery, Lowell.
