Obituary

Laconia-Lucille Eva (Morin) Bissonnette, 87, of 30 County Drive, formerly of 1480 Old North Main Street died Friday morning, August 31, 2007 at Belknap County Nursing Home.

Lucille was the daughter of the late Aime and Generia (Fillion) Morin. A lifelong resident, she was born in Laconia on August 29, 1920, where she was raised and schooled, attending Sacred Heart School, graduating in 1935, and Laconia High School, graduating in 1939. She then attended and graduated from the New Hampshire School of Cosmetology in Manchester.

Lucille and her late husband, George Bissonnette were married on January 24, 1943 in Pocatello, Idaho. She owned and operated The Fashion Beauty Shop together with her twin sister Cecile at its Main Street location in Laconia. Subsequently, Lucille became the sole proprietor and relocated the shop to 30 Pine Street. Her career as a cosmetologist spanned some 35 years, retiring in 1980.

Lucille was very active in sports and school activities during her school years. Later she became the girl’s basketball coach at Sacred Heart School, volunteering her time from 1955 through 1965. As an avid golfer, Lucille was a member of Laconia Country Club where she won the Club Championship, Women’s Division at the Laconia Country Club in 1960, and on that same day her husband George won the Club Championship, Men’s Division, a feat that had not been duplicated. Trophies recognizing this feat are on display today at the entrance of the Country Club. Over the years Lucille continued to enjoy golfing with her husband, and often filled her days playing tennis and having lunch with her sister Cecile, and other school day classmates. She was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church, and a member of the Ladies of Sacred Heart. Lucille was a very devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.

Beside her parents, Lucille is predeceased by her husband George M. “Bud” Bissonnette in 2002, her brothers Dr. Robert Morin, and Raymond Morin who was a fighter pilot in WWII.

Lucille is survived by a son, Robert G. Bissonnette of Tucson, Arizona; two daughters, Cecile “Tootsie” Genova and her husband Peter of Gilford, and Donna Paxton and her husband Bob of Bedford, New Hampshire; her twin sister, Cecile Clifford of Laconia, and her brother, Gerard Morin of Vero Beach, Florida, former Mayor of Laconia. Four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews also survive Lucille.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Thursday, September 6, 2007 at Sacred Heart Church, 291 Union Avenue, Laconia at 11:00 am. Rev. Adrien R. Longchamps pastor of the church celebrated the mass. Burial at the convenience of the family will take place in the family lot at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Garfield Street, Laconia. There were no visiting hours.
