Spring Hill, FL - John J. Healey, age 82, a WW2 Army Veteran, formerly of Lexington, MA, died unexpectedly Thursday evening,
August 30, at Saints Medical Center in Lowell, MA, following an apparent heart attack while
visiting his family in Tewksbury. Mr. Healey was the husband of the late Charlotte (Duren)
Healey, who died in April 1989.
He was born in Ansonia, CT, on November 24, 1924, and was raised in Ansonia. He enlisted into
the U.S. Army during WW2, and served in the Asiatic/Pacific areas. He was discharged as a
Sargent Major.
Mr. Healey was an accountant. He lived in Derby and Orange, CT, for many years, when he was
employed by the Farrell Company in Connecticut. He moved to Lexington, MA, and worked for
U.S.M. Corp. in Boston. For the last 30 years he had lived in Spring Hills, FL, and was
retired from Nu-Air Company in Florida.
While in Boston, he served as the Past President of the G.E. Credit Corp, and served as a director for the United Way of Massachusetts. He was a member of the V.F.W. in Connecticut, and later
became a member of the B.P.O. Elks Aripeka, FL, Lodge 2520.
He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Thomas F. and Donna (Gentile) Healey of
Tewksbury; one granddaughter, Siobhan Healey, currently attending Suffolk University in
Boston; a sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Ed Barrett of CA; and several nieces and nephews.
He was also father of the late Ellen L. Goddard; and brother of the late Margaret Healey and
William Healey.
His Funeral Mass was celebrated Thursday,
Sept. 6, in St. William’s Church, Tewksbury. Interment in
Derby, CT, will be private. Additionally, a Memorial Service will be held in Spring Hill, FL, at a later date. Kindly omit flowers. Donations to a charity of donor's choice will be appreciated.
