Obituary

Mildred M. (Walonis) Dayton, 89 of Medway died August 28 in the Metro West Medical Center in Framingham. She was the wife of the late Paul Dayton who died in 1953.
Born in South Boston, December 19, 1917 the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Dictius) Walonis, Mrs. Dayton had lived in Chelsea for many years before moving to Medway 14 years ago.
Mrs. Dayton had been the secretary to the Mayor of Chelsea for eight years. She had previously worked as an editor at the Chelsea Record Newspaper and prior to that as an accountant at the Parker House in Boston.
Mrs. Dayton was a Third Degree member of the Order of St. Francis.
She loved to play cards, scrabble, and garden and sew.
She is survived by her son, Paul Dayton and his wife, Alexis of East Norriton, PA, daughters, Deanne Callor and her husband, John of Jackson, MI and Joanne Dayton of Brewster.
She was the sister of the late Alex Walonis.
She is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
Her funeral will be held on Friday, August 31 from the Ginley-Crowley Funeral Home 3 Barber St. in Medway at 9:15 followed by a funeral Mass in St. Joseph Church at 10:00 a.m.
Burial will be in St. Michael’s Cemetery in Boston.
Calling hours will be on Thursday from 6-8 p.m.
