Obituary






Whitman- William E. Borden, 85 died Tuesday August 28th in South Shore Hospital after a period of failing health. He was the husband of Theresa A. (Cunningham) (Bina) Borden and the late Helen (Roberts) Borden.

Born in Boston and raised in Rockland he was the son of the late William and Anna (LaRue) Borden.
He served in the United States Coast Guard from 1942 – 1946 during WWII having been stationed in the South Pacific.

Mr. Borden lived in Whitman for over 50 years, and worked as a manager for the First National Stores before his retirement.

He was a communicant and active member of the Holy Ghost Church in Whitman serving as an Alter Server for over 15 years and 50 years in the Saint Vincent DePaul Society, 27 of those years as President.

When he was not volunteering he enjoyed traveling, reading and was a true fan of the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots.

In addition to his wife he by survived by his children, William Borden of East Bridgewater, John Borden of Florida, and Steven Borden of Germany, his step children Joseph Bina of Hanson, Theresa Sullivan of N. Attleboro, and the late Marie Fortuna. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.


His funeral will be held Saturday September 1st at 9:15 AM from the Blanchard Funeral Chapel Plymouth Street (Rte 58 @ the rotary circle) Whitman, followed by a mass @ 10:00 AM in the Holy Ghost Church, School Street, Whitman. Burial will follow in the Holy Family Cemetery, Rockland. Visiting hours will be held Friday from 3:00-8:00 PM.
