Obituary

DRACUT – Mr. Patrick W. Moreau, age 89, a US Army Veteran of WWII, a resident of Dracut for over 50 years, formerly of Lowell, died Sunday August 26th, 2007 at Fairhaven Nursing Home in Lowell. For 36 years, he was the beloved husband of Doris L. (Michaud)(Noval) Moreau.

He was born St. Jean Portjoli, Canada on April 16th, 1918, son of the late Wilfred Joseph Moreau and Rose D. (Jacques) Moreau. He and his family emigrated to Lowell at an early age.

Mr. Moreau served in the US Army from 1941 until 1945 during World War II. He was discharged as a 1st Sergeant in Company C, 182nd Infantry, and also held the rank of Sharpshooter Rifleman. His tour of duty included the Philippines, Northern Solomons, and the Guadal Canal. He received a Good Conduct Medal with Star for a Presidential Unit Citation, an American Defense Service Medal, and Theater Campaign Liberation Ribbons and Medals with 3 Service Stars.

Prior to his retirement, he worked for over 25 years as a General Contractor, having worked for CG&M Construction Company based in Tewksbury.

He was a communicant of the former Ste. Jeanne d'Arc Church in Lowell. He was also a member of the South Pacific Buddies, a US Veteran of Foreign Wars club involving Soldiers who saw action in the Pacific during WWII.

Besides his wife, he leaves a daughter, Gail Ritchie of Pelham, NH; a sister, Simone Descouteux of Dracut; two grandchildren, Catherine Merrick of Derry, NH and Patrick W. Ritchie of Pelham, NH; two great grandchildren, Kelsie and Katie Merrick, of Derry, NH; and several nieces & nephews. He was also Step-Father of the late Shirley Noval, and brother of the late Raymond Moreau.

Relatives and Friends will be received at the M.R. LAURIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 295 Pawtucket St. Lowell, on Wednesday morning from 8:30 to 10:30 AM. His Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 AM at St. Marguerite D'Youville Parish (Ste. Therese Church) on Lakeview Ave. in Dracut. Interment to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
