WORCESTER-Dennis A. Wixted, 63, of Worcester, died Monday, August 27th in UMass-Memorial Hospital. He leaves his wife of 16 years, Margaret Gikas; his children, Rebecca Wetherbee and her husband Matthew, Seth Cunningham and Rachel Wixted, all of Worcester; a sister, Margaret Sullivan of Worcester; a brother, Clarence Wixted of Jonesboro, AK; 4 grandchildren, John Wetherbee and his wife Alissa of Coventry, RI, and Christopher, Alyssa and Daniel Wetherbee, all of Worcester.
He was born in Worcester, the son of Clarence and Stella (Renaud) Wixted and graduated from Worcester Boys Trade School and the School of Worcester Art Museum, where he later was an instructor. Mr. Wixted was a photographer and worked at L.B. Wheaton, retiring earlier this year. He was an avid gardener and photographer.
The funeral is Thursday, August 30th, with a service at 11:00 A.M. in St. Nicholas Orthodox Church, 34 Gold Street (stnicholaschurch.org), Shrewsbury. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery. Calling hours are Wednesday, August 29th from 5:00 until 8:00 P.M. in O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue and from 10:00 until the time of the service in the church.
