TEWKSBURY - Paul F. Gleason Sr., 79, a resident of Tewksbury for over 37 years, died Tuesdaymorning, Dec. 17, at Saints Memorial Medical Center. He was the husband of Marie J. (Petitpas)Gleason, with whom he had celebrated a 55th wedding anniversary this past Sept. 7th.
He was born in East Boston, Feb 10, 1923, a son of the late John and Mary (Rourke) Gleason. He lived in East Boston before moving to Tewksbury in 1965.
During WWII, he served in South Pacific as an Army cook.
He retired from the A & P food warehouse, fish department in Boston, after 37 years of service. He went on to work in the kitchen at the Beaconcrest Nursing Home, now the WentworthNursing Care Center in Lowell. He retired after 20 years at the Beaconcrest.
Mr. Gleason was active in St. William’s Parish and served as an usher.
Besides his wife, he is survived by four sons and daughters-in-law, Paul F. and wife Linda(Rosten) Gleason Jr. of Presque Isle, Maine, Robert J. and his wife Barbara (Clogston) Gleason ofLowell, Leonard A. and his wife Cloma (Bird) Gleason of Lowell, Thomas H. and his wifeColleen (Hegarty) Gleason of Pelham, NH, a daughter and son-in-law, Paula M. and her husbandThomas McClard of Portland, Oregon, a sister, Marie Lane of Weymouth, a brother and threesisters-in-law, Leo and Jean (Hallisey) Gleason of Foxboro, Charlotte (Avery) Gleason ofTewksbury, Claire (Petitpas) Sousa of Saugus, a brother-in-law, Richard Jones of Weymouth, 11grandchildren, Cheryl, Laurie, Tracey, Justin, Lisa, Donald, April, Thomas, Ryan, Thomas Jr.,Jason, 9 great grandchildren, Sarah, Zachary, Joseph, Steven, Brianna, Jancienta, Jordan, Jalena,Dominic, and his best friend Oliver, and several nieces and nephews..
He was also brother of the late John Gleason, Mildred Jones, his twin, Henry Gleason, and greatgrandfather of the late Eric.
HisFuneral Mass was held Dec. 21, in St. William’s Church. Intermant was inTewksbury Cemetery.
