Obituary

Christie H. DiCastro, of Stoughton, formerly of Canton, passed away at home, under the care of Old Colony Hospice, after a courageous battle with Lung Cancer on Saturday August 25, 2007. She was 65 years old. She was the beloved wife of Edward R. DiCastro to whom she was married to for over 44 years.

Born December 14, 1941 in Boston, Massachusetts, she was a daughter to the late Harvey H. and Dorothy (Huskins) Hutchinson. Mrs. DiCastro was raised in Canton, attended Canton Public Schools and was a 1959 graduate of Canton High School. She was employed as an Administrative Assistant with The Blue Hills Regional Technical High School in Canton for fourteen years.

Christie was an active member of The First Parish Universalist Church of Stoughton. She had volunteered as a leader for both the Cub Scouts and the Girl Scouts for many years. She was also a proud member of The Canton Chapter of The Order Of The Eastern Star and in 1995 held the office of Grand Esther and the title of Past Worthy Matron.

Visiting Star Island as a teenager and then again with her two children brought her great joy. She loved painting, Arts and Crafts, Travelling, Ceramics, beach trips and most of all, spending time with her family and grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughter, Dianna (DiCastro) Breneman and her husband Robert of Dover, New Hampshire, her son Allen E. DiCastro and his fiancee’ Diann (Perrin) of Attleboro, MA, her two grandchildren, Emily and Zachary Breneman also of Dover, New Hampshire, her two sisters, Carol (Hutchinson) White and her companion David of Stoughton, Gail (Hutchinson) Bush and her husband Richard of Lady Lake, Florida, her brother Bruce Hutchinson and his wife Alphia of Canton and many nieces and nephews. She was also a sister to the late Nancy Taylor.

A memorial service in celebration of Christie’s life will be held on SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 29th, 2007 at 11:00 A.M. in The First Parish Universalist Church of Stoughton, 790 Washington Street, Stoughton Center. The Reverend Jeffrey B. Symynkywicz, officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations to The First Parish Universalist Church, 790 Washington Street, P.O. Box 284 , Stoughton , MA 02072 in Christie’s memory, would be appreciated. Funeral arrangements entrusted to The Sheehan Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Stoughton.
