James B. McCarron, 80, beloved husband to Julia K. McCarron (McCarthy), of Litchfield, NH, died August 25, 2007. He was born December 1, 1926 in Brewer, ME to Timothy R. McCarron and Mary E. McCarron (Long). He married Julia K. McCarthy on November 15, 1947. Mr. McCarron graduated from John Bapst High School, Bangor ME in 1947 where he was active in all sports. He entered the US Army in 1944, was a veteran of WWII, and served in Austria. He graduated from Mantor Hall Preparatory School in Cambridge, MA and Wentworth Institute in 1952. Mr. McCarron retired in 1992 from Silent Watchman and National Guardian as regional general manager for many years. While residing in Billerica MA for 40 years, he was active as a Little League coach and officer, Pop Warner football coach, and a member of the Billerica Knights of Columbus and the Irish American Club. In his youth he was an avid baseball, basketball and football player. Mr. McCarron was a lifetime fan of the Boston Red Sox and was rewarded for his loyalty in 2004. He was also a long time fan of the New England Patriots and Boston Celtics. His greatest past times were jogging, gardening and carpentry. Mr. McCarron was also a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Litchfield.
He is survived by his wife, Julia, of 59 years and children Mary Ellen McCarron, Michael McCarron and wife Vicki, Julie MacIntosh and husband Edwin, Brian McCarron and wife Gail, eleven grandchildren and one great-grandson.
Friends called on Tuesday, August 28th from 7 – 9pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 290 Mammoth Rd., Londonderry. A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Wednesday at 10:00am in St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Rte 3A, Litchfield. The burial followed in Holy Cross Cemetery, Gilcreast Road, Londonderry. Memorial donations may be made in his name to: Souhegan Home & Hospice Care, 24 North River Road, Milford, NH 03055.
