Arthur V. Burns of Needham died on Wednesday August 22nd at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston. He was 72 years old. Mr. Burns was born in Boston and grew up in Brighton. He was a graduate of Saint Sebastian’s Country Day School and Boston College. Mr. Burns was employed as a Purchasing agent for Beth Israel Hospital in Boston. He worked at Beth Israel for 35 years before retiring approximately 10 years ago. Arthur was a life member of the Boston Sparks Association Inc. and a member of Citywide. He was a model railroad enthusiast and was an accomplished jazz drummer. Arthur was the beloved husband for 43 years of Sally (Gorman) Burns and the loving father of Cynthia L. Burns of Minneapolis, MN, Mary D. Ward of Quincy and Arthur V. Burns III of Arlington. Brother of Elizabeth Holmes of Noank, CT and Mary Lou Frates of Barrington, RI. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. His funeral will be from the Eaton Funeral Home 1351 Highland Ave Needham on Monday August 27 at 9:00AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Joseph Church at 10:00 AM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting on Sunday 2-5 PM. Interment will take place in St. Joseph Cemetery in West Roxbury.
