On December 26, 1930, Walter Copeland was born to the Late Mr. John Henry Copeland and Maebelle Joiner Copeland. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Esther Copeland Lacy and Nancy Copeland Horton and one brother, John Henry Copeland.
Walter was educated in the Madison County School system. He later met and married the late Mearlean Martin. They were the proud parents of one son and three daughters.
Walter's journey of faith began when he accepted Jesus as his Personal Savior.
He worked for Olin Chemical (Redstone Arsenal) and retired from Consolidated Industries.
Walter enjoyed outdoor activities. His hobbies included gardening and lawn care. He believed that perfection was something we could never achieve, but something we should strive for in everything we choose to do.
Those who will forever cherish memories of Walter are his daughters, Glenda Clemons, Regina (Larry) Clemons, Cornelia Hamlett all of Huntsville, AL; one son, Donnie (Lanee) Conner of Atlanta, GA; three sisters, Eleanor Copeland Roper, Willie Mae Copeland Ray and Odell Copeland Banks all of Huntsville, AL; one brother, James Paul Copeland of Huntsville, AL; three brothers-in-law, T. J. Martin, Earl Horton and Charles L. Ray, Jr.; eleven grandchildren, two great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Mr. Copeland will be held on Wednesday, August 29, 2007 from the Nelms Memorial Funeral Home Chapel at 2501 Carmichael Avenue, NW - Huntsville, AL with Reverend John L. Clay officiating. Interment will be in Valhalla Memory Gardens.
