Mother Jessie Mae Elizabeth Moore Buford was born March 23, 1912 in Huntsville, Alabama to the late Mr. John Henry and Mrs. Mary Etter Moore. She departed this life at her home August 23, 2007. She is preceded in death by her mother and father, her husband, Mr. Erskine Buford, six brothers and three sisters.
She confessed hope in Christ at the age of 10 and joined the First Missionary Baptist Church, under the pastorate of the late Rev. C. N. Perry. She served in several ministries of the early church including the Sunday School Department, The Chorus, Baptist Training Union and the Missionary Society. She was a very active member of the Mother and Deaconess Board for many years, serving as President for several of those years.
