Lawrence A Hutchings, 94, a resident of Winchester for over 61 years, passed away at the Aberjona Nursing Center in Winchester on Aug. 23rd. Born in Watertown, MA, he was the son of the late Ferdinand and Alice (Long) Hutchings. Raised and educated in Watertown, he graduated from Watertown High School with the class of 1931. He then went on to earn his bachelor’s degree from Northeastern University in Boston.
A U.S. Army Veteran of WWII, he worked for the U.S. Government as an Industrial Engineer at the Watertown Arsenal and Hanscom Field. After retiring from the government, Larry was an investment advisor and consultant in the Winchester area for over 30 years.
A 50-year member of the Masons, he was affiliated with the Pequossette Lodge of Watertown. Mr. Hutchings was a member of the Congregational Church of North Barnstead and one of the founding members of the Jenks Senior Center in Winchester.
He was the beloved husband of the late Virginia M. (Foreman). He is survived by his children, Bruce Hutchings and his wife Betsy of Lancaster, NH and Jean Cullen and her husband George of Groveland, MA. He was also the dear brother of the late Calvin and Ralph Hutchings and Gladys Hoyt. A Funeral Service will be held in the Costello Funeral Home, 177 Washington St., Winchester on Tues. Aug. 28th at 10AM. Relatives and friends respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Mon. from 6-8PM.
