James Norman Simpson, 74, of Tifton died Wednesday, October 26, 2005, at his residence. Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 29, 2005, in Oak Ridge Cemetery with full military honors. Rev. Joe Crumley will officiate with burial to follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery. Members of the military will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Friday, October 28, 2005, at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mr. Simpson was born on June 1, 1931 in Brooks County and was the son of Rayford Leon Simpson and Lee Dasher Simpson, both deceased. He served over 20 years with the United States Air Force Office of Special Investigation, serving in Korea and Vietnam and was a recipient of the Bronze Star, the Korean Service Medal, the U. N. Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. After retiring from the military, he worked with the Tifton Housing Authority. He was a member of Tift Avenue Church of God.
Mr. Simpson is survived by his wife, Nancy Charlotte Simmons Simpson of Tifton; one son and daughter-in-law, Greg Lee and Sandra Simpson of Morven; three daughters, Nancy Simpson of Birmingham, Alabama, Jeannie Simpson of Montgomery, Alabama, and Angie Hajaik of Troy, Alabama; one brother, Ray Leon Simpson of Brooks County; and four grandchildren.
