Methuen, MA – John G. Buckley, 85 died Tuesday August 21, 2007 at Caritas Holy Family Hospital.
Born in Lewiston Maine he was a graduate of Chelmsford High School, and attended Lowell Technical Institute. Mr. Buckley had been formerly employed with the Pacific Mills in Lawrence prior to their closing. For 31 years was a Sheet Metal Fabricator with Barry Wright Corp. of Watertown before his retirement.
John was an active communicant of Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish and treasurer of St. Theresas Rainbow Club.
According to his family John and his wife Pauline were very involved in the Greater Lawrence ARC. He had great appreciation for music, golfing, loved all sports, and more importantly lived for his wife, children and grandchildren.
During World War II Mr. Buckley served his country in the United States Army, and was the recipient of the Good Conduct Medal, and the American Theater Campaign Ribbon before being honorably discharged at wars end.
A 58 year resident of Methuen survivors include his wife of 58 years Pauline E. (Marchand) Buckley, two children Karen L. & her husband Donald Rutherford of Lawrence, and Brian & wife Lisa Buckley of Derry, NH, 6 grandchildren Stacy & Gregory Rutherford, Ryan, Brian, Katelynd & Ian Buckley a daughter-in-law Lee Buckley & several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Buckley was predeceased by his daughter Susan G. Buckley, brothers Herman & Charles Buckley and sister Myrtle Foster.
A funeral mass will take place on Saturday morning at 11:30 A.M. in Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish/ St. Theresa Church 22 Plymouth Street Methuen, MA with burial to follow in Elmwood Cemetery.
Friends may call on Friday from 4-8 P.M. at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, Inc. 233 Lawrence Street of Methuen.
