Tony L. Howell, Jr., 37, of Tifton died Tuesday, November 22, 2005, at Tift Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, November 25, 2005, in the main sanctuary of Tifton's First Baptist Church. Dr. W. Ches Smith, III will officiate with burial to follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ed Kelley, George Cirillo, Jeremy Hill, Ian Stephens, Robby Lang, David Walker, Kyle Kendrick and James Hester. Honorary pallbearers will be employees of the Tift County Sheriff's Office. The family will receive friends on Friday, November 25, 2005, from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of the service at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mr. Howell was born on October 30, 1968 in Sumter County and was the son of Tony Howell (wife Linda) of Fayetteville and Marolyn Mixon (husband Aubrey) of Tifton. He was a member of Tifton's First Baptist Church. He graduated from Tift County High School and the South Georgia Police Academy and was employed with the Tift County Sheriff's Department for seven years. He had lived in Tifton for 31 years.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Howell is survived by his wife, Shannon Howell of Tifton; one brother, Ray Hale of Birmingham, Alabama; and three sisters, Nancy Howell of Valdosta, Deborah Duford of Fayetteville and Dana Womack of Locust Grove.
