WEBSTER – Brian D. “Wheels” Phillips, 30, of 131 Sutton Road, entered into rest on Monday, August 20, in UMass/Memorial Hospital, Belmont Street, Worcester, after an illness.
He leaves his father, David C. Phillips of Worcester; his mother and stepfather, Linda J. (Turgeon) Ewing and Charles B. Ewing of Northbridge;his stepmother, Veronica (Smith) Phillips of Webster; 3 brothers, Bobby Phillips of Thompson, CT, and David and William Phillips, both of Webster; a sister, Jessica Egan of Providence, RI; his paternal grandmother, Irene (Paul) Phillips of Woonsocket, RI; his maternal grandmother, Janet (Laquerre) Turgeon of Bellingham; aunts and uncles, a niece, a nephew, many cousins and friends.
He was born and raised in Woonsocket and lived in Webster since 1991. He graduated from Bartlett High School in 1996.
Mr. Phillips was the ever-present coach for Webster baseball leagues and Pop Warner teams. He also umpired for the Little League. He loved all sports and was a dedicated Red Sox and Patriots fan. Though confined to a wheelchair all of his life, Brian was recognized by his smile and happy demeanor.
Calling hours will be held from 6:00 to 9:00 PM Friday, August 24, in Scanlon Funeral Service, 38 East Main Street, with a funeral service at 8:00 PM. After cremation, burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Shriner’s Hospital, 516 Carew Street, Springfield, MA 01104.
