John W. Hollis, 71, died Saturday, August 18th in the Jordan Hospital, after a brief illness.
Born in Weymouth and raised in Whitman, he was the son of the late Erwin and Gertrude (Hill) Hollis.
Jon was a resident of Whitman, for many years, before moving to Sarasota Florida, then to Pembroke for the last 10 years. He was a graduate of Whitman High.
He was a veteran of the United States Air force during the Korean War as an aerial photographer.
Jon worked for the Cunard Cruise lines as a host, a consultant for Queen Elizabeth cruises ,he also owned a roller skating rink in New Jersey, were he was the organist.
He was an authorized spokesman for the Titanic and all aspects of its history. He also was a consultant for the production of the movie. He was also a member of the Titanic Historic Society.
Jon loved his dogs.
He is survived by his friends, John Ferrante of Plymouth, Paul Pelrine of Wrentham, Kenny Olson of South Weymouth and Joan of Hindmarsh of Halifax.
His Funeral will be held Wednesday August 22nd at 11:00 A.M., in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Route 58 at the Rotary Circle) Whitman. Burial will follow in the Colebrook CemeteryWhitman,MA.. Visiting hours Wednesday August 22nd 9:00 A.M. – 11:00 A.M.
