Obituary

Lucette Sallé Liebig died peacefully surrounded by her family on Aug. 20, 2007 after a brief illness.

She was born on Oct. 10, 1921 in Angers, France the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Roger Sallé.

After attending Belle Fontaine, she studied law at the University of Paris during the German occupation. She met and married her first husband, Peter Waldo, at the end of the war.

Lucette was an avid gardener and a member of the Mystic Garden Club for over thirty years. She served as a docent at the Mystic Art Association. An avid reader, she volunteered at the Mystic and Noank Library and served on that board as director.

Lucette taught French for several years at Pine Point School. She was a Cub Scout den mother, Brownie and Girl Scout leader. She served as a volunteer at the Denison Pequotsepos Nature Center and was chairman of the greens sale for many years. She was a strong supporter of Child and Family Services and took great pleasure in being of service to the community.

She is survived by her husband of forty six years, Otto Liebig; daughter, Diane Waldo and life partner, Sally Dunn, of Lexington, Mass.; son, Maje Waldo of Brooklyn, N.Y.; daughter, Nicole and her husband, Lance Vernstrom, of Santa Barbara, Calif.; son, Marc Liebig of Niantic; Lucette’s step daughter, Kirsten and her husband, Howard Nelson, of Ponte Vedra, Fla.; grandchildren, Andrea Nelson, Jeffrey Nelson, Tani Vernstrom; and great-granddaughter, Coral Nelson.

Lucette was a member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Mystic. A Memorial Service will be held there on Thursday, August 23, at 1 p.m.

Interment will be private at Elm Grove Cemetery, Mystic.
