John J. Hunter, of Somerville, formerly of Medford, died suddenly, Sunday while visiting with family in New Jersey. He was 71.
Mr. Hunter was born in Boston, the son of the late William and the late Dorothy (MacDonald) Hunter. John served in the Army for two years and then began work as an electrician and retired several years ago as an electrician at Northeastern University.
He was the beloved husband of the late Mary Ann (Notarangeli). He was a loving father to John Hunter Jr. and his wife Lisa of N.J., LuAnn Jammal and her husband Eli of Concord and Cynthia Hunter and her husband Nunzio Napolitano of W. Yarmouth. He was a loving partner to Theresa Tierney and her children Marissa and Janelle. He was a loving grandfather to Shaunna, Jevan, Jared, Daniella, Natalia, John III, Mathew, Nolan and Tyler. He was a dear brother to Mary Barker, David, William and Daniel Hunter.
His funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Thursday at 9 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 441 Fellsway West, Medford, at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may visit with the family Wednesday 4 – 8 PM.
