Obituary

Samuel A. Bennett, 80, of Marion died August 19, 2007 unexpectedly at Tobey Hospital.
He was the husband of Emma P. (Nye) Bennett.
Born in Marion, the son of the late William and Estella (Kinney) Bennett, he lived in Marion all of his life.
Mr. Bennett was a member of the First Congregational Church of Marion.
He was formerly employed by the Town of Marion Department of Public Works for over 20 years until retirement.
Mr. Bennett enjoyed spending time with his family, quahoging, country music and playing the guitar and harmonica.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include his wife; 2 daughters, Linda Kelsey, and her husband Philip, of Mattapoisett and Kathy Sanders, and her husband Chuck, of Marion; a daughter-in-law, Cindy Bennett Hayes of Plymouth; 4 sisters, Evelyn Mitchell of Marion, Arlene Johnson of Wareham, Shirley Perry and Mary Coe, both of New Bedford; 5 grandchildren, Philip Kelsey, III of Mattapoisett, Lisa Kelsey Dumas of Fairhaven, Matthew Sanders of Marion, Christina Bennett and Amanda Bennett, both of Plymouth; several nieces and nephews.
He was the father of the late Samuel A. Bennett, Jr. and the brother of the late Jeff Bennett, Arnold Bennett, Robert Bennett, Gordon Bennett and Margaret Linhares.
His Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, August 25th at 10 AM in Evergreen Cemetery Marion.
