BUCKLEY, Morton J. “Red”, of Winthrop, passed away at the Whidden Memorial Hospital in Everett, on March 21, 2007. He was 89. He was the beloved husband of Marie E. (Barry) Buckley. Born in Uxbridge, MA, he was the son of the late Francis J. and Mary (Bedard) Buckley. He was the devoted father of Francis J. Buckley and his wife Marie of Winthrop, Paul C. Buckley and his wife Christine of East Amherst, NY, Mary E. Bourgea and her husband John of Malden, and Eileen M. Marley and her husband Albert of Winthrop. Brother of Kelly Young of Watertown, Vera Mallard of Arlington, and the late Jacqueline Connolly, Annette Murphy, Helen Sharkey, and Harry Buckley. Adored grandfather of Justin Buckley, Kristen Trainor, Matthew Buckley, Katherine Buckley, Jennifer Marley, Kevin Marley, Kelly Bourgea, and Julie Bourgea. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Funeral arrangements were by the Maurice W. Kirby Funeral Home 210 Winthrop St. Winthrop, MA. A Funeral Mass was held on, Sat., March 24, 2007 at 10am, in St John the Evangelist Church. Cremation was private. Late U.S. Army Air Corps Veteran of WWll, member of the Cottage Park Yacht Club, Life Member-Winthrop Lodge of Elks #1078, American Legion-Winthrop Post #146, Winthrop Rotary, former tax assessor for the Town of Winthrop, corporator for the former Winthrop Savings Bank, founder of the Winthrop Youth Hockey League, and past All- Star hockey player for the Boston Olympic Hockey Team. Prior to his retirement, Morton worked for the former New England Electric Co, in public relations and sales.
