Joseph E. Sampson, 57 of Derry, NH died August 18, 2007 at his home. Mr. Sampson was born on March 24, 1950 in Haverhill, MA the son of the late Joseph and Bella (Descheneau) Sampson. He had resided in Derry since 1994, formerly living in Lawrence, MA. After graduating from St. James High School in Haverhill, he served with the US Marines during Vietnam from 1969- 1971. He retired in 2001 after 30 years employment with Lucent Technologies in N. Andover, MA. He was most recently employed as a janitor for the Londonderry High School until the time of his illness. He attended Trinity Assembly of God Church and was a member of the VFW post 1617, both in Derry. He loved to read, travel to the mountains and enjoyed riding bicycles and taking walks.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Donna S. (Giarrusso) Sampson of Derry, two daughters, Deanna Marcello and her husband Christopher of Methuen, MA, Katrina Deschene and her husband James of Derry, one son, Robby Patrick Sampson of Derry, five grandchildren, Ryan, Alexis, Devin, Chance and Nathan, two sisters, Jean Shimanski and Theresa Rogers, both of Haverhill, also one aunt, one uncle, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter, Sherri Ann Sampson in 1998.
Visiting hours were on Tuesday August 21, 2007 from 5 – 7pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry. Funeral services were held on Wednesday at 11:00am in the Trinity Assembly of God Church, 53 N. Main St., Derry. Private burial was in Forest Hill Cemetery, E. Derry.
