Dorothea (Preble) Stoddard, of Needham formerly of FL and Stoneham died Thurs. Aug 16, 2007at the Beth Israel Deaconess Needham Campus. She was 89.
Born in Wollaston, she had worked for the New England Telephone Co for many years. She was an active member of the Assembly of God Church and enjoyed playing the piano and bowling. She was also active with the Needham Senior Center.
Wife of the late John G. Stoddard and Herbert J. Laracy, she is survived by her daughters Patricia Baker and her husband Raymond R. of Needham, Denise M. McClellan and her husband Robert M. of Burlington. She is also survived by her step children Carol Downer, John Stoddard, Thomas Stoddard, Elaine Kelliher, Sandra Dennen, her grandchildren Christopher A. Baker, Angela M. Goulette and Valerie J. Hubbard, her 10 great grandchildren, 15 step grandchildren and 12 step great grandchildren.
She was the mother of the late Robert G. Laracy, step mother of the late Robert and Gerard Stoddard and Ann Marie Olga and sister of the late Frank Preble.
A funeral service will be held on Tues Aug 21 at 10 AM at the Good Shepard Christian Fellowship 754 Greendale Ave Needham. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Visiting hours will be in the Eaton Funeral Home 1351 Highland Ave NEEDHAM on Mon 4-8 PM. Interment Puritan Lawn Memorial Park Peabody. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Needham Community Council 51 Lincoln St. Needham MA 02492.
