Peabody: Professor Rita Loos age 73 a former resident of Newton died Tuesday, August 14, 2007 at the Rosewood Nursing Home in Peabody.
Born and raised in Buffalo, NY, she was the daughter of the late Adalbert and Melania (Szymkowska) Loos. She received her BS degree from Buffalo State College and her MS degree from Canisius College also of Buffalo, her PHD in history from St. John University in Long Island, NY. Professor Loos first taught in the Buffalo Middle School and in Orchard Park, NY. She taught history at Framingham State College from 1963 through 1998. She was a member of the Organization of American Historians. She is survived by a nephew, David Loos of West Seneca, NY, a niece, Patricia Crouse of Ohio and several grandnieces and a grandnephew.
Her funeral services will be on Monday, August 20, 2007 at 2 pm in the Levesque Funeral Home, 163 Lafayette St., [Rt. 114 / 1-A] Salem. Burial will be in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park in W. Peabody.
