Janet S. Peirce, 76, of Fitzgerald, died Friday, August 17, 2007 at the Life Care Center in Fitzgerald.
Graveside services will be held 7 A.M., Sunday, August 19, at Sandy Ridge Cemetery in the Bowen’s Mill Community, Ben Hill County, with Rev. Claude Mack officiating.
Mrs. Peirce was born February 10, 1931 in Holliston, Massachusetts, to the late Alvin E. and Evelyn Cummings Searles. She moved to the Bowen’s Mill Christian Community in 1977. Mrs. Peirce was a former manager of a daycare center in Miami, Fl and retired a school teacher after 30 years, teaching English to children and adults in Eupora, MS, the Bowen’s Mill Christian Center in Fitzgerald, GA, Copper Center, Alaska and Citra, FL.
She is survived by her husband, John Peirce of Fitzgerald, GA; son, Scott Jonathan Meffen of Gainesville, FL; daughters, Martha Sue King of Newnan, GA and Alison Lee Robeson of Gingin, Western Australia; 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; brothers, Don Searles of Sierra Vista, AZ and David Searles of Upton, MA. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Faith Elise Vega, granddaughter, Elise Vega, sister, Loraine Wolf and a brother, Gary Searles.
